1.EXT. SUBURBAN HOME-NIGHT
HIGH ANGLE shot of a double-storey suburban home. It’s a modern house; flat shapes, hard angles, not much decoration. Behind the low front wall the garden is big and a well cared for. Trees, bushes, clipped grass. The moon is out. Windows are dark.
ALISON
(off)
Daddy, daddy!
2. INT. ALISON’S BEDROOM-NIGHT
A little girl’s bedroom. ALISON, age 7, is sitting up, hugging her knees. Her father, ARTHUR, is standing in the open doorway. He’s wearing pyjama pants and an open dressing gown. No shirt. An ordinary guy, going a bit soft around the waist in middle age. He looks tired and a bit concerned.
COLIN
You okay, honey?
ALISON
Daddy, there’s a scary
man outside.
3.
DOWN SHOT of Colin tucking Alison into her bed.
COLIN
There’s no one outside,
Alison. Shh, go to sleep.
4. INT. MASTER BEDROOM-NIGHT
Looking OVER COLIN’S SHOULDER into the master bedroom. Colin’s WIFE is asleep in bed. Her hair is spread all across the pillow. She looks young in her sleep. The window is in the back wall, behind her.
COLIN
(sigh)
5.
Colin stands by the WINDOW, his back to us, looking out of it into the yard.
6.
CLOSE UP of Colin, looking shocked.
