Good job guys. Keep it up!
I am really, really impressed! I have sent the link to Amnesty International Canada, and shared the comic with our board of directors of Amnesty International Lethbridge.
Good for you!
I love it! Great work!
It’s wonderful and very professional. The main character has a nice resemblance…

Well done young lady!!!!
What a way to make a difference.
Everyone should be respected and loved? What about the 3,000 people who were incinerated alive 8 years ago by people with the same nutty religion as this guy? I guess you don’t care about them, do you? He’s not in Guantanamo for jaywalking you know.
To Reason and Logic:
Habeas corpus rights have not been respected in the cases of Guantanamo detainees. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Arts. 5, 9, 10, 11) and the Convention Against Torture, to which the United States and Canada are signatories, ensures everyone the right to be charged, given a fair trial, and not be tortured while imprisoned. These rights must be protected for everyone, everywhere. Without these protections, anyone can be arrested, imprisoned, not charged with a crime, denied medical treatment and access to a lawyer, and tortured. Unfortunately, this happens all too often around the world.
If Omar Khadr is repatriated and given a fair trial in his country of citizenship, and then found guilty of a crime, of course he should serve whatever sentence is given him by the court. BUT, he must first be given a fair trial. Seven years in a prison camp that is now notorious world wide for its human rights abuses, is cruel and inhumane. The Canadian government should be ashamed that it has not repatriated him to stand trial in Canada.
Thank you to the authors of this comic for being brave enough to stand up for human rights for everyone, no exceptions.
These people don’t care what you think, and you obviously don’t care about the 3,000 innocent people burned alive on a beautiful sunny day by people like this guy. He’s lucky to be alive, unlike the aforementioned innocent men, women and children slaughtered without any warning or mercy or compassion on Sept 11, 2001. Your misguided feelings will be your downfall because these religious fanatics don’t care about your kindness. Their stated goal is to convert you to Islam or kill you. Go ahead and feel sorry for him I don’t care.
I’d like to see a cartoon by this talented artist depicting the 911 attacks. I’m sure they could draw people jumping to their deaths from the World Trade center with amazing skill. Let’s remember why this person is locked up in the first place, then ask people how they feel about his sad and sorry situation. Let’s also see the author of the comic take on radical Islam and show it for what it is, a bloodthirsty, evil philosophy which has no place on any civilized planet. That would show real guts don’t you think?
To Reason and Logic: I do in fact care deeply about the people who were killed at the World Trade Centre. I also believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, which does not happen without a trial and conviction. Thank you for sharing your views – it has been an interesting discussion, and I am glad that you care enough to engage in it.
Thank you for this comic. Fifteen year-old Omar has been denied his human rights for years and people around the world (including Australia) have been aware of the inaction of the US and Canadian governments in securing his release. I hope that this comic will inspire some people to act.
Wonderful job, thanks for speaking for Omar, and for us all!
Thanks for the great pictures, we’ve posted it on our blog.
Luke Pickett’s illustrations are great! I’m not sure if I agree with everything in Marta Obst’s script, however. Page three image here says “we want him tried humanely.” Presumably that means a Canadian trial?
Omar doesn’t need any more trials. He should never have been arrested, he has broken no laws. It is not illegal to resist an invading army; it is unlikely he killed the US medic as he is accused; and the rules he is being tried under are violations of International Law. Omar was a child soldier. He must be rehabilitated as a young adult into Canadian society — not put on more trials.
Nevertheless, I appreciate the intention of this book and hope it help build more pressure leading to his return and an end to this nightmare.
ohmar is a terrorist and should be punished to the full extent of the law. terrorism is no light hearted matter. anyone accused of terrorism should be dealt with in this manor to show that terrorism is nothing to take lightly.
i agree, omar was accused of viscous acts and should be punished accordingly. terrorism is nothing to take lightly. terrorist are on another level then common criminals seem in normal prisons.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/khadr/family/osama.html he has connections to the bin laden family. would you honestly want him as a neighbor in canada?
so what happens if omar is tired and is convicted of all the crimes he is convicted of? are you all just going to say “my bad”?
